TEHRAN – Three Iranian films won awards at the International Film Festival of Tamilnadu, which was held in Chennai, India from November 9 to 11.

“Mazar-i-Sharif” won the best director award for Hassan Barzideh while Mahtab Keramati was presented the best actress award for her role in the film, which tells the story of the killing of some Iranian diplomats and a journalist by Taliban militants in the Afghan city of Mazar-i-Sharif in 1998.

Saba Mahdavi won the best child artist award for her collaboration in “Rana Silence” by Behzad Rafiei in the children’s film section of the festival.
 
The film tells the story of an Iranian village girl Rana and her chicken, Kakoli.

In this section, Bahram and Bahman Ark and Ali Moslemi won the award for best screenwriter for “Coldness”.

“Coldness” is about an eight year old boy who is constantly anxious and wets himself due to the grave financial difficulties of his family. He is forced to hide himself under his mother’s chador every day coming back from school.

In addition, “Hura” by Gholamreza Sagharchian was also screened at the children’s film section.

The film features the efforts made by the young rural boy Hadi in the small garden he has inherited from his mother to help alleviate drought.
